When You Know that You Just Do Not Know

"What is an ideal girl for you?"

When asked this question, no matter how hard I contemplate about it, there is just no answer that can actually encapsulate all the characteristics in a single, precise, and clear word. Besides, the thought of setting a standard as to what you prefer in a girl, makes me feel that I am only making things more complicated than they already are.

Complicated in a sense that perhaps the qualities that you are requiring in a girl are merely fictitious entities. It speaks about what you want, and not what is existing. There is a big difference. So when the time comes, and a girl enters your life, one can not help but impose his standards. And when the girl falls short of your expectations, you show her the exit door.

As a friend of mine wrote in his blog, "People like you have a huge problem. You all wait for that perfect person, but she's already here. When it happens, you will make her perfect." Waiting for someone perfect is tantamount to waiting for nothing. Making someone feel perfect is a totally different story.

So the next time someone asks you about your ideal guy or girl, maybe it will do you good to answer: "I do not know."

Even if one might say that "I do not know" is such a vague and safe answer, perhaps vagueness is what we really need. Is it always advantageous to cling to an imaginary perfect girl or guy instead of to a flawed yet real person knocking at your doorstep?

Sometimes it is healthy to have a pinch of uncertainty. To have the "I do not know" factor. As such, you tend to accept and appreciate all the small things that come your way, including that special someone. A special someone that might have already been lurking just around the corner, without you noticing because you are too preoccupied with ideals.

Without ever expecting anything that is close to perfect, every detail in your life you encounter, achieve, acquire, and find become worth the wait.

That i know.
